Loyal 2 Local celebrates its 5th anniversary | News, Sports, Jobs

A directory of businesses that offer gift cards or online shopping is a new feature on Loyal2Local.org. The Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance initiative has 120 participants in total.

The Loyal 2 Local program was launched in July 2018 as part of the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance and its Small Business Retention and Growth Task Force. The purpose of the task force is to promote and recognize the value of businesses in our community.

The Loyal 2 Local program sends a strong message that supporting local businesses is important and essential to our region’s economy. We thank the community for considering local options first and using local businesses whenever possible for personal and business needs.

This year marks the start of the fifth year of the program, which we will celebrate throughout the year. Not only will we have new signage recognizing the program’s anniversary, but we’ll also feature some events this summer.

First up, Loyal 2 Local is the sponsor of the Out to Lunch concert in downtown Iron Mountain on Thursday July 7th. We hope you’ll join us to enjoy the music of the Luke Warm and Not So Hots from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Systems Control Stage across from the Dickinson County Library. There will also be offers for tasty food from local vendors, Loyal 2 Local giveaways and of course raffles to win great items from Erickson Jewelers, First National Bank & Trust, Danielson Insurance , CWRK Collective and more.

Loyal 2 Local and The Alliance will also co-host cybersecurity training, presented by Guide Star, a division of CCI Systems, on Wednesday July 27. The training will train employees of businesses in the region, of all types and sizes of businesses, on best practices and staying informed of cyber risks that arise in day-to-day business activities. All participants will receive certificates of completion after completing the session to document proactive training, an increasing requirement from insurance companies. Details and registration information for this free session will be announced on www.Loyal2Local.org and www.DAEDA.org.

And finally, the local Loyal 2 planning committee has been hard at work creating a new presence on the website which is now live. The web address is the same, www.Loyal2Local.org, but offers several new features, including:

– Attendee Directory — This robust directory allows consumers to locate area options by keyword and provides details such as companies that offer gift cards or online shopping.

– Events Calendar – You will also notice an Events page which will share not only events organized by Loyal 2 Local, but also by program participants.

– Registration and Membership Renewal – new and renewing Loyal 2 Local attendees can now register, order materials, submit a business profile and pay for their attendance, all on the new website.

There are 120 participants in the Loyal 2 Local program, working together to raise awareness of the importance of supporting local businesses and all they contribute to our community and our region’s economy. We hope you will choose to support all local businesses.

Remember that for every $100 spent with a local business, $68 stays in the community, where those dollars continue to flow through our economy. When $100 is spent in another city or at a non-local online retailer, that $100 is gone forever. Always think local first!
