LAKE BOTTOM, Wis. (WFRV) – If you head towards the Fond du Lac area, you might run into royalty.
Eight-year-old Hailey Hopper won the Little Miss Galaxy International pageant in McAllen, Texas. She was previously Little Miss Wisconsin Galaxy and competed against girls around the world for her new title.
“You can do so many things when you’re the queen, and I’ll be able to do more favors with this title,” Hopper said.
Hailey said one of the most enjoyable parts of the contest was meeting new friends from all over the world and experiencing new cultures she had never experienced before.
Hailey’s mother, Melissa Hopper, was unable to travel to Texas with Hailey. So, Melissa and other family members watched the contest live from their homes. Melissa recalls the moment she heard her daughter announced as the winner.
“It was really loud, mom was pretty excited, it was pretty loud in the house, lots of tears and lots of smiles,” Melissa Hopper said.
Prior to the pageant, Hailey was extremely involved in her community. She organized a book drive to collect and distribute books to children in Kenya and also participated in other local drives for food, clothing and supplies.
She has also helped the Salvation Army Fond du Lac with the organization’s Summer Brown Bag Lunch program. It provides meals to needy children in the community during the summer.
Since she started entering contests at the age of two, Hailey has made spreading kindness a theme of her community outreach.

“She really showed her heart and how much she loved helping out and it was amazing to see her being recognized for that,” Melissa said.
Hailey will hold the title of Little Miss Galaxy International for one year.
